Effective June 18, 2015, e-cigarettes will be regulated in the same way as traditional tobacco products.
The Youth Commission authored an ordinance regarding the regulation of electronic
cigarettes which was introduced on May 5, 2015 and adopted by Town Council on May 19, 2015. This fall, the Youth Commission will distribute decals to local businesses to assist in communicating this new ordinance.
Studies have found a number of dangerous chemicals in electronic smoking devices’ emissions and cartridge contents. At least ten chemicals listed as carcinogens and reproductive toxins have been identified in mainstream or secondhand e-cigarette aerosol.
For more information about this ordinance, please contact Youth Commission staff liaison Jackie Rose at jrose@losgatosca.gov or call (408) 354-6853.
