South Santa Cruz Avenue Closure Begins This Weekend


Traffic in Los Gatos on busy weekends can significantly impact the quality of life in Town neighborhoods.  The Town Council has taken this challenge seriously and continues to explore solutions to balance the impacts of traffic with the inconveniences caused by mitigation measures. 
 
In pursuing solutions, the Town will partially close South Santa Cruz Avenue at Wood Road for three consecutive weekends beginning June 25 from 9 am to 3 pm. 
 
This partial closure will affect only southbound traffic on South Santa Cruz Avenue, the result of which will eliminate access to southbound Highway 17.  Access to and from Wood Road and exiting vehicles from northbound Highway 17 will enter a temporary traffic circle at Wood Road.  The traffic circle will also serve to redirect any traffic heading south on South Santa Cruz Avenue.  The image above depicts the location of the closure and the traffic flow.
 
Traffic message boards will alert drivers in advance of the closure and direct them to access Highway 17 via Highway 9. 
 
The ongoing weekend closure of Tait Avenue and Massol Avenue at Highway 9 will continue as well.  The Town is also collecting significant amounts traffic data to further inform future actions.

Amendments to the Town's Smoking Ordinance
New regulations take effect on June 26, 2016


The amendments to the Town’s Smoking Regulations prohibit smoking in areas that may affect you as a property owner or manager of a commercial or multi-family business. The areas that now prohibit smoking are:

  • Any area or property in the Town that is in a commercial zone.
  • All commercial shopping areas and shopping centers and parking lots.
  • Public or private places of employment with more than 1 employee.
  • All hotel and motel rooms and common areas.
  • All indoor/outdoor multi-family housing units and spaces of two (2) or more units.
  • All parks, playgrounds, sports fields, recreation areas, open space, bike paths, and trails.
  • All Town-owned facilities, property, grounds, and parking lots.
  • All Town events and other public events.

Los Gatos Celebrates the 4th of July


Join the Town of Los Gatos as we celebrate the 4th of July at Oak Meadow Park from 11:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, July 4th, 2016!
  • Kick off the day with children’s activities while enjoying entertainment provided by the Sizzling Seniors.
  • Indulge in BBQ favorites and ice cold drinks available for purchase from the following Los Gatos Community Service Organizations: Lions, Rotary, Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Los Gatos Community Foundation.
  • The San Jose Wind Symphony concert will begin with a Flag Raising Ceremony and Mayor’s Welcome, followed by an afternoon of popular tunes and patriotic songs.
We will be honoring our local service men and women with a Yellow Ribbon at intermission. Our Flag Raising and Yellow Ribbon Ceremonies are made possible by Boy Scout Troop 2 and Operation Yellow Ribbon.

Be sure to catch the toe tappin’, finger snappin’, good time with a performance by the Peninsula Banjo Band, which will conclude our 4th of July festivities. General parking is available at Calvary Church (16330 Los Gatos Blvd.) with a shuttle service every 15 minutes.

Handicap parking is available at the front entrance of Oak Meadow Park on a first come, first serve basis. See you there!

Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan Online Survey Community Meeting scheduled for July 7, 2016


The Town of Los Gatos is preparing it’s first-ever Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan. We would greatly appreciate your insight and feedback on walking, bicycling and other non-motorized modes of transportation in Los Gatos. 

Your responses will be crucial in helping the Town identify major issues and plan for future improvements that will make walking and biking safer and more fun. Click here to take the survey.

A community meeting hosted by the Town of Los Gatos Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2016 from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. in the Town Council Chambers located at 110 E. Main Street.
