Petty TheftTaking of personal property with a value of $400 and under.
Grand TheftTaking of personal property with a value of $950 and over.
VandalismDamaging, destroying, or defacing personal property of another with a value less than $400.
Bicycle TheftTheft of any bicycle.
Auto Burglary (cold)Theft from a locked vehicle. It is considered "cold" when there is no suspect information and the crime is not witnessed, or the report is for insurance purposes. Use either petty theft or grand theft depending upon the value of the loss, if the car was unlocked.
Lost/Stolen PropertyLost property case is when property has been misplaced and the elements of a crime are not present, but a report is desired either for insurance purposes or so the owner can be identified if the property is found.
1. Assign it a report number.
2. May contact you to verify the accuracy of the report or to clarify any information. These contacts are typically done via email.
After your report has been accepted, the Police Department will contact you with the assigned report number and verification that the report has been received. If you need to obtain a copy of this report, please contact Records and Communications at (408) 354-5257, Monday - Thursday, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and Friday 9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. You will be required to pay a $26.00 fee.
All cases are reviewed by the Detective Bureau.
