Calling all artsy tweens! Celebrate a new cultural art form by learning how to make a chigiri-e piece. Use handmade papers of all different colors and tear them into smaller pieces to create a larger image. Chigiri-e is a Japanese art form that dates from the Heian period of Japanese history, often used in conjunction with calligraphy. This program is for tweens aged 10-13.
Join us on Zoom to cook together with Colleen Patrick-Goudreau — dubbed the “Vegan Martha Stewart” by VegNews magazine! Colleen has been guiding people to experience the benefits of plant-based eating for over 22 years. The author of seven books, including The Joy of Vegan Baking and The 30-Day Vegan Challenge, Colleen's classes are fun, interactive, and live in real-time! Participants receive recipes in advance so they can cook along — or just watch. Join Colleen from the comfort of your kitchen to learn to make these delicious recipes that are perfect for weekday breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We'll be cooking : Carrot Ginger Soup Better-Than-Tuna Salad Banana Chocolate Chip Muffins This summer, the Library is partnering with Plant Based Advocates to present a series of programs focused on reducing our traditional reliance on meat and dairy. Plant-Based Advocates is a grassroots nonprofit that advocates a shift to a plant-based lifestyle to address climate change and improve health.
