State Housing Laws

The Town of Los Gatos is monitoring State legislation and regional policy measures regarding housing.  This page presents reference information that has been compiled on State laws deemed most applicable to housing development within the Town, as well as information about the Town regulations, standards, and processes adopted to address them.  

JOINT STUDY SESSION - BUILDER'S REMEDY - April 7, 2025

A Special Joint Town Council and Planning Commission Study Session was held to Receive Information on and Discuss Recent Updates to State Builder’s Remedy Law and the California Environmental Quality Act.

JOINT STUDY SESSION - STATE HOUSING LAWS - September 12, 2023

A Special Joint Town Council and Planning Commission Study Session was held to review State housing laws that apply to applications for housing projects in the Town, including: 

  • Senate Bill 330
  • The "Builder's Remedy"
  • Density Bonus Law
  • The California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA)
