Parking Study to Support Downtown Parking Planning
The Town has begun collecting parking utilization data to help guide future downtown improvements. By better understanding how parking occupancy, turnover, and length of stay downtown, the Town can make parking more convenient, reduce congestion, and improve access for residents, employees, and visitors.
How data will be collected:
What this means for the community:
The study will take place through October 15th and will provide valuable insights to support parking management strategies and future downtown planning.
For questions or additional information, please contact the Parks and Public Works Department.
Thank you for supporting efforts to keep parking easy, convenient, and accessible in Los Gatos!
New wayfinding signage has been installed as part of the Town’s Wayfinding Project. These signs will help guide the community to parking lots, government offices, and other landmarks. Wayfinding is an important aspect of enhancing the visitor experience in Los Gatos, and better signage improves traffic flow and reduces parking congestion. Check out the Downtown Master Plan for Signage and Wayfinding or visit this page for more information.
Additionally, new Downtown Employee Parking Permit signage has been installed in the downtown lots, extending permit parking restrictions to 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Mondays through Saturdays, excluding holidays. The employee spaces are available for public use outside of those times. Check out the Employee Parking Permits page for more information.
In an effort to relieve parking congestion and support downtown businesses, Downtown Employee Parking Permit hours have been extended to include Saturdays. Permit holders may now utilize the designated employee parking spaces from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Mondays through Saturdays (not including holidays). Free public parking is available in these spaces outside of those hours.
The extension of permit parking restrictions to Saturdays will help reduce parking congestion for visitors as well as local businesses and their employees, especially during weekend events. The new signage was installed as part of the overall Downtown Wayfinding and Signage Project and areas in Lots 1-6, Park Avenue Lot, Montebello Lot, and the Southside Lot have been marked with updated signs that clearly designate the permit-only parking spaces. Check out the Employee Parking Permits page for more information.
My priorities as Chief within the organization include focusing on recruitment, succession planning, and supporting our talented staff through ongoing training and opportunities. External emphasis will be maintaining a high quality of life in Los Gatos and Monte Sereno; to bridge, build, and enhance community relations.
I have a deep knowledge of the Los Gatos and Monte Sereno communities, strong partnerships throughout the law enforcement profession, and a robust pride for the members and quality of service provided by this department. I believe in encouraging education, mentoring, and training opportunities as they are integral for our staff to build confidence, career development, and awareness in a rapidly evolving profession.
The Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department is a resource to the community that we serve. Policing has evolved into a very data-driven process of crime prevention, response, and enforcement through legislative mandates and reform efforts. The Police Department will focus towards strengthening the relational based policing techniques that are at the grassroots to many historical reform movements. Strong community – police partnerships establish a foundation for trust, respect, and communication while sharing goals of crime prevention, education, and enforcement.
I am enthusiastic to lead and serve the Los Gatos-Monte Sereno Police Department and the communities we protect and serve.
- Jamie Field, Chief of Police
