Streamlined ADU permitting process
In response to changes in State law, and as part of the Town’s ongoing efforts to increase efficiency for permit reviews, the Planning and Building Divisions have developed a new Building permit application form and process. Residents who wish to build a new ADU or JADU can now submit a single application form and proceed through a single plan review process in order to obtain their Building Permit. New guidelines and application forms are available online here and through both the Planning and Building Division webpages. ADU Building Permit Application Packet
ADU Ordinance updates were reviewed and approved by Town Council on April 7, 2020, with a second reading on April 21, 2020. The Town’s current ordinance went into effect on May 21, 2020. The Town Council staff reports can be found here. Approved Ordinance 2307 can be found here. Any discrepancy between State law and the Town Code would default to State law.
